Dear Parents and Families of Miner Elementary School,
As we look toward closing out another remarkable school year at DC Public Schools (DCPS) and turn our focus toward School Year 2024-2025, I am excited to announce that Dr. Carrie Broquard has been appointed as the next principal of Miner Elementary School! In 2000, Dr. Broquard began her career in education as a middle school science teacher in Los Angeles, California. Within the Los Angeles Unified School District, Dr. Broquard later served as a chemistry teacher, gifted and talented education coordinator, and assistant principal. In 2008, she relocated to Illinois, where she has served as an assistant principal, an emotional-disabilities coordinator, and a clinical assistant professor in educational administration. Most recently, Dr. Carrie Broquard has been the principal of DCPS's Lafayette Elementary School since School Year 2014-2015. At Lafayette, she collaborated to create a full complement of DCPS special education programming for our students. She prioritized investing in the school community and parent association's work into Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She also saw the school through a full-scale modernization project completed in 2016 and helped lead the school to the title of a National Blue Ribbon School in 2021. School Year 2024-2025 will mark the beginning of Dr. Broquard's 25th year in education. She is excited to bring her belief in meeting students where they are and building on her commitment to ensuring that our schools serve all students at high levels. As an educator's daughter, public schools are both her passion and her "why," and her true joy is seeing students learn and succeed in the halls of their school. She also brings a deep commitment to getting to know students and their families outside the classroom. Dr. Broquard holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry with a minor in education from Bryn Mawr College. She also holds a master's degree in educational administration and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a DC resident, proud DCPS parent, and high school and club volleyball coach. I am confident that the next phase of excellence at Miner will lead to the continued development and success of our scholars under the leadership of Principal Broquard. I look forward to supporting her and the entire Miner community in preparation for next school year. Should you have any questions, please contact me via email at [email protected]. Sincerely, Andria Caruthers Instructional Superintendent, Cluster IV Comments are closed.
