Principal Selection Panel Open Session

• Wednesday, June 1
• Miner Cafeteria
• Open session for public input
• 6:00 – 6:30 pm

The Principal Selection Panel—a group of parents, teachers, staff, and community members—will meet on Wednesday, June 1, to create a list of interview questions for principal candidates.

If you would like to provide input into this process, please come during the open session for public input from 6:00 – 6:30 pm.

At 6:30 pm, the Principal Selection Panel will move into a closed-door session to finalize the list of interview questions.

There are 2 ways Miner’s community can make their voices heard and help select our new Principal: 

1. Fill out a short survey  

2. Serve as a parent participant on the Community Panel which will interview Principal candidates

What is the Community Panel and how do you join?

The Panel will include: 

• LSAT chair (appointed)
• PTO president (appointed)
• Teachers union representative (appointed)
• 3 parents (chosen by parents, via a vote)
• 4 teachers (chosen by teachers, via a vote)
• 1 staff member (appointed)
• 2 community members (1 chosen by teachers, 1 chosen by parents)

If you are chosen, the time commitment is:

• Panel working session to develop interview questions: Wednesday, June 1, 6:00 pm to 8:00 or 9:00 pm
• Panel interviews with Principal candidates: A 4-hour time slot, either 8:30 am-12:30 pm or 1:30 pm-5:30 pm on a weekday, as early as June 3.

• Nominations are due by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, May 25th

Voting for Parent & Community Member Participants
Only current Miner parents are eligible to vote. Ballots will go home the evening of Wednesday, May 25 and voting will take place on Thursday and Friday, May 26-27. We know this is a short turnaround time, but, in order to make sure that Miner can choose from a good pool of Principal candidates, we need to move quickly.

The Miner Elementary School PTO would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our Yard Sale yesterday. The event was a huge success! We know that many of you found new treasures in the old items donated. And we raised more than $2000 for our PTO general fund! We are so grateful for all the donations, volunteers, and buyers.
