I just wanted to say thanks to Holly Harper and Natalie Bellino for advertising our book fair to Miner family and friends and helping to recruit volunteers. Lindsey Jones-Renaud, Katy Thomas, Franziska Aschenbrenner, Terri Rupar, Sarah Dennis, Heather McLean, and Ms. Davis we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to help set up the book fair, restock tables and assist our students with their shopping needs. e are also grateful for teachers and parents who donated money to ensure our students have books they want to read during the holiday break. Your support enabled us to achieve $3991.82 in total sales. Thanks for your support and we appreciate you. Happy Thanksgiving! IT'S THANKSGIVING WEEK!!!
Join the DCPS ECE team for our parent committee meeting! We are hoping to identify one parent to serve as Miner’s policy council representative for the ECE Policy Council, city wide. This year, each school’s parent committee is responsible for selecting a policy council representative. Training of Policy council representatives will occur December 2nd and 3rd.  Coin-a-Day-Challenge starts today. The money collected goes directly to purchasing books for our students. Scholastic will also match the money raised with a donation of up to one million books to The Kids In Need Foundation.
Tuesday is ELECTION day at Miner Elementary! Last year, our students submitted their ideas for the perfect Miner Bear - a bear that loves to play, is a good friend, loves to learn, is strong, and gives lots of big bear hugs. We took the winning drawing and now it's time to put it to a vote! It's all about voter turnout, so we hope all of our Miner Bears submit ballots on Tuesday so their voices can be heard in our Miner Bear Election extravaganza.   NEXT WEEK - November 14 through 21 - is our Scholastic Book Fair! Come by every day next week from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. to get awesome deals on awesome books. The Book Fair helps raise money for books for our students and classrooms.
Also, our students will participate in a classroom Coin-a-Day-Challenge. The money collected goes directly to purchasing books for our students. Order books ONLINE through November 22, or come in this week for some AMAZING book deals and promotions. We still need volunteers. Miner Elementary is so excited to bring Christmas trees and greenery sales to the Hill East neighborhood this winter! The sale will be December 2nd and 3rd in the Miner garden.
