Early Childhood
Miner's Early Childhood grades (PK3/PK4) use a play-based learning program called Creative Curriculum which is directly aligned to the GOLD assessment.
K-5
English Language Arts (ELA)
Each day our teachers engage our Miner Bears in Common Core Instruction that crafts their development and interest in becoming trailblazing 21st century learners. Our Bears participate in lessons and activities that strengthen their phonic skills, reading comprehension, and their ability to think critically when engaging with a complex text. Instruction is rooted in the Common Core State Standards ensuring that academic development matches their need but also piques their interest. Through various learning models, such as Fundations, Guided Reading and Close Reading, our students will be prepared to find their way in this big world and leave their print.

Mathematics
Math is also aligned to Common Core but uses Eureka Math as the program of learning. Math instruction at Miner guides students to develop a comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts. We emphasize developing expert thinking and complex communication skills that embeds the Standards of Mathematical Practices. Our math curriculum focuses on:
Students thrive through problem-based tasks to explore mathematical ideas and to introduce them to multiple methods of solving problems. Students develop greater levels of understanding of mathematical concepts. They not only know how to do an efficient algorithm but, they understand why it works.
Math Parent Resources (digital platforms for grades K-5):
Science
Science instruction is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and the DCPS scope and sequence.
