The Miner PTO wants to thank everyone who joined us for our End-of-Year Community Day. We had so much fun on Saturday as we mingled with members of the Community who came to Miner to enjoy some hot dogs, play on the playground, make smoothies on the bike, donate uniforms, and win some amazing raffle prizes! It was the perfect ending to a less than perfect year, as we finally got to spend some time together in person (and not on a computer screen). Everyone present made the day truly special.
We are so grateful to all who helped with the event--whether you attended, helped plan, or volunteered in anyway, you played a huge role in the event's success. There were many people involved, but we want to specifically thank Brandon Scott for the idea to hold the event, David Treat and John Muir for rebuilding the picnic tables, Latoya McCarthy-Scott for purchasing the food, Sydney Lawson for supporting our garden programming, Chris Deutsch for his leadership with the Miner Mutual Aid Network, and Abby McGill for bringing in all the sponsors and donors! Thanks to this amazing team we were able to have a wonderful Community Day as we said goodbye to Principal Jackson and welcomed Principal Greer. We hope you all have a wonderful summer. As always, thank you so much for your continued support of Miner Elementary and the Miner PTO. Miner's incredible art teacher Ms. Rosettie is please to present student art work from this past year.

As this challenging school year draws to a close, the Miner PTO would like to invite you all to join us for an in-person celebration with your fellow Mighty Bears! What: End-of-year cookout for the school community When: Saturday, June 26, 12-2 pm (raffle prizes announced at 1:30 pm!) Where: Miner Elementary, 601 15th Street NE Who: You! This is a community day - it's a playdate for new and current families, it's a celebration of the greater Miner Community, it's a thank you to our amazing Miner teachers and staff. In short, it's a day to feel "normal" after an anything but normal school year. All are welcome: current families, prospective families, Miner staff, and our community at large. But please wear your masks! Please join us for hot dogs, chips, music, and community fun! Play on the playground, help in the garden, drop off gently used uniforms for the uniform drive, support the Miner Mutual Aid Network, and enjoy the day with fellow students, staff, and parents before the summer holiday. We hope to see you there! See the attached flyer for more details, and feel free to email [email protected] with any questions. Join us for snacks, music, hard work and fun as we mulch the garden together! Bring your favorite work gloves and any helpful tools (e.g. shovels, pitchforks, wheelbarrows).
