Thank you so much to everyone who joined us on August 15 for Miner’s March for Black Lives Matter. The turnout was amazing and we are so grateful to the support we received from our community!
None of this would have been possible without the hard work of Latoya McCarthy-Scott and the Equity Team’s Solidarity Committee. They organized a great event for families and even provided supplies to make some of the amazing signs and banners. And somehow they even arranged for the rain to hold off until the very end! Attached are some photos of the march. Thanks to all who participated! The Miner Mutual Aid Network is once again partnering with Serve Your City and Ward 6 Mutual Aid to provide non-perishable food boxes, masks and other PPE, household items, and children’s books and toys. In addition, as we prepare for distance learning we will have school supplies, including a limited number of devices, and a table set up for distance learning support. This event is open to the entire Miner community and we encourage everyone to come out and support each other. Masks and social distancing will be required. Donations: If you received an EBT card and would like to use it to buy food to be donated to the event, please see the below list of items. Donations can be dropped off at Miner between 12 noon and 1:00 PM Thursday 8/27 or Friday 8/28.

Volunteering: If you are interested in volunteering at the event, please click here and sign-up! The Miner Equity Team's Solidarity Committee invites the Miner family and community to make signs and march from Miner to Rosedale Community Center in a peaceful protest against police brutality and the systemic oppression of Black people in America. This is the perfect opportunity for our children to be a part of something that isn’t just a moment.
Need poster supplies? They will be available for contactless pick up at Miner August 10–14 from 10AM to 2PM. Important: please wear a facemask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. |
