Thank You! Bike to School Day 2018

On Wednesday, May 9, the Miner family was excited to once again participate in the annual Bike to School Day festivities with our fellow Capitol Hill schools and community members. The fun began in Lincoln Park with the JO Wilson cheerleaders and warmups with local fitness instructors and bicycle advocates. We also heard from Mayor Bowser, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, and DCPS Interim Chancellor Dr. Amanda Alexander.

Our entourage then made our way up Tennessee Ave to Miner. We were honored to be escorted by the Director of the DC Department of Transportation, Mr. Jeff Marootian, National Park Service Ranger Vince, and MPD.

When we arrived at Miner, we were welcomed by our newly-installed bike rack! We're excited that this new addition to our school will help foster a culture of bike-riding in our community.

Thank you to all of our special guests, and especially the Miner students, staff, and parents who came out extra early on a beautiful May morning to be a part of the largest Bike to School Day event in the entire Nation! Special thanks go out to the Capitol Hill Public School Parents Organization (CHPSPO) for their amazing work organizing the event. It just gets better every year!
