The countdown is on!!!! We are bursting with excitement to welcome back our students and our families in a few short days! We hope to see many of you Friday at the Back to School Bash! From 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm we will host "Meet the Teacher". Stop by your child's classroom, drop off school supplies, and say hello to their new teacher! We will have a barber, backpacks to distribute, and the PTO will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. We hope to see you there!

Miner's first Author Visit of the Year:
Miner is beyond excited to host our first author and illustrator visit of the year!!! On Sept. 4th, we will hear a book talk from author Traci Todd and illustrator Vashti Harrison to celebrate their new book, "That You Are Here is no Small Thing". We are excited to share this opportunity with our PK3 - 2nd graders. If you would like to order a copy of the book, the link is here: https://buy.stripe.com/00wbJ204r72GblV3Pb1Fe1o
Donate to Miner's Uniform Closet
The Miner PTO is excited to introduce our new Uniform Closet for the 2026-27 school year, providing families with an affordable way to purchase gently used school uniforms while supporting sustainability.
Our first two sales of the year will be at the Back to School Bash on 8/21. More details on cost of uniforms to come!
We welcome donations of clean, gently used uniforms and look forward to making this a valuable resource for our families. The most needed sizes are 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10, but we welcome any sizes you are willing to donate! Drop off bins will be inside the 15th St lobby starting this Wednesday, 8/5!
By giving uniforms a second life, we can reduce waste, conserve resources, and build a stronger culture of sharing within our school community.
We are also looking for a few volunteers to help manage the inventory and sales at school events. Please email minerpto@gmail.com to let us know you are interested!
Student Health Needs
Does your student have a health need? Need medication at school? Please be sure that Nurse Anderson (simone.anderson@dc.gov) has all required action plans and information. She's in the school health suite every day from 8 am - 4:30 pm.
Miner is not a nut free school. However, if your student has an allergy of any kind, please notify your classroom teacher and the school nurse. We will make any accommodations required by their allergy action plan as outlined by a doctor.
