Message From the Principal -Wednesday, 12/10
Dear Mighty Miner Bears,
This week we celebrate the amazing efforts of our PTO!!!! Last week they hosted a WILDLY SUCCESSFUL greenery sale last Friday and Saturday!!! Thank you to all of our volunteers, organizers and community members who participated. Up next....the Fundraising Wine Dinner at Belga next Thursday.
The PTO has also worked with our community to raise funds to support our families experiencing food insecurity. We know the Winter Break can be long and groceries don't go as far with kids at home! The PTO has graciously raised money from our community to help supplement families needing food support. We will be distributing supplemental food bags to families on Sunday 12/21 and Sunday 12/28 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. The pre-packed food bags will include some extra basics like pasta, canned fruits and veggies, and other dry goods. We will be distributing out of the 16th Street doors. Bags are reserved for current Miner families. To help plan accordingly, please RSVP if you would like to receive a bag. One bag per family each distribution day.
Winter Break Food Distribution Sign Up - Please RSVP by Tuesday, 12/16. – Fill out form
I also want to take a moment to celebrate our Girls Basketball team who just finished their inaugural season. A huge thanks to Coach Nettles!! With help from Coach Hunt and Coach Tre they improved a HUGE amount in a very short season. We could not have been prouder of their hardwork and growth! Our Boys Basketball team started practice this week. We're excited to watch their season when we return from winter break.
Next week is our last week of school before winter break. Attendance matters every day!!!!! Please be sure you are sending your students to school every day. To help us enjoy our last week, we will have a Spirit Week next week! Our Winter Spirit week days are as follows:
Monday - Cozy Sweater Day
Tuesday - Channel your Flannel Day
Wednesday - Winter Wonderland Day - Wear white and blue
Thursday - Holiday Character Day
Friday - Winter PJ Day
As a note, during the winter season, please know that we go outside every day as long as the temperature is above 32 degrees. Please be sure kids have hats and gloves as it gets colder. If you need any outerwear, please don't hesitate to let us know - we have some that share!
Finally, we are wrapping up 2025 with our Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 17th. There will be a performance at 1:45 pm and 6 pm. Our very own Glee Club will be performing, as well as some grade level performances. The PTO will also be selling raffle tickets for the Classroom Holiday Garlands. We hope to see everyone there!!! Friday, December 19th we will celebrate our December birthdays and have our Winter Parties.

In the Classrooms....
When we return in January, we will start Middle of the Year (MOY) assessments. Every student in K-5th grade will take iReady in ELA and math. Students in K-2 will also be assessed using DIBELS (for phonics and reading levels). It is incredibly important that students are at school every day in January as we work to gather middle of the year data about the amazing learning they have done so far!
