On Thursday, June 4, Daru — the acclaimed H Street NE restaurant from Rasika alums Dante Datta and Chef Suresh Sundas, a 2026 James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic — will host an exclusive four-course dinner benefiting Miner Elementary School.

Chef Sundas made history this spring as the first Nepalese chef ever nominated as a James Beard finalist. His cooking draws on a life lived across continents — from his childhood in southeastern Nepal, where he first learned to cook at eleven years old, to kitchens across Washington, DC. The result is something singular: Indian cuisine with a depth and originality that’s earned Daru a place among the best restaurants in the city.

This is a rare chance to experience that cooking in an intimate setting — a curated four-course menu with wine pairings, genuine hospitality, and a room full of people who care about supporting students and educators at Miner Elementary, just blocks away from Daru. 

50% of ticket proceeds will directly support Miner students and staff through the PTO.

This fundraiser is made possible through the generosity of the Daru team and Miner PTO. Funds raised through the dinner will help support enrichment opportunities and community-building efforts at Miner Elementary.
